This section is NOT to explain the Day of the Lord nor Tribulation period but the THE APOSTASY or FALLING AWAY.

In 2 Thessalonians 2 Paul is addressing a big concern the believers in Thessalonica had in regards to the Rapture. Some false teachers had been spreading rumors either by a spirit, message or a letter as being from the Apostles, that the Rapture had already occurred and that, because of the Roman persecutions of the Christians, they were already in  the Day of the Lord or Tribulation period. These few verses clearly teach a PRE-TRIBULATION (ANY MOMENT) Rapture, because the believers thought that the Rapture had already occurred and they had missed out and were in the Tribulation period. If the Rapture was to occur after the Tribulation period then the believers would have been rejoicing that they were in the Tribulation period as that would mean the Rapture wasn’t far away. But they were disturbed and confused thinking that the Rapture had already happened and that they were in the Day of the Lord (Tribulation ).

Paul quickly re-assures them and that they should NOT be DECEIVED about the Day of the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it (the Day of the Lord) will not come unless the APOSTASY comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction….

Let us take a closer look to the word APOSTASY.

Strong’s Greek Lexicon explains APOSTASY as ἀποστασία, -ας, ἡ, (ἀφίσταμαι), a falling away, defection, apostasy; in the Bible namely, from the true religion.

Some try to explain the APOSTASY as the FALLING AWAY of the Church from the Earth (or the Rapture). We completely reject this idea.

In Matthew 24:10-12 Jesus says “At that time many will FALL AWAY and will betray one another and hate one another. “Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.” (Can you see the times we live in NOW?) Jesus didn’t say that He would be gathering us to Himself.

Strong explains the words FALL AWAY as

to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and obey – to cause to fall away.

That is what’s happening in this world right now. All good doctrine of the Christian faith is being undermined by so called “experts” and “leaders” on all sorts of subjects. People are confused. The world is confused. They turning away from the true GOD in droves.

The FEAR OF GOD is not in them anymore.

That was the great sin of the people of Israel time and time again. They turned from following the TRUE GOD and turned to idols. They lost the FEAR OF GOD.

Oh how we love JOB 28:28

“And to man He said, ‘Behold, the FEAR OF THE LORD, that is wisdom;
And to DEPART FROM EVIL is understanding.’”

People today DEPART FROM FOLLOWING GOD and from following GOOD.

They don’t think they need God and can solve their own problems.

Evil has become Good.

2 Timothy 3:1-4 says “But realize this, that in THE LAST DAYS difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”

Does that reflect our times or what?

1 Timothy 4:1 declares “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will FALL AWAY FROM THE FAITH, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.”

Jesus says in Matthew 24:10-12 that in the last days people will be caused to move away from the true faith and embrace doctrines of false prophets.

In 1 Timothy 4:1 the Holy Spirit  explicitly says that in the LATER TIMES some will FALL AWAY form the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.

Lets face it, the churches are full of FALSE TEACHERS teaching doctrines of demons and people are following these doctrines and discarding the TRUTH.

THAT is what the APOSTASY is, a falling away from the true FAITH. When the true Church is raptured all these believers of false doctrines will pull together and form the ONE WORLD CHURCH under the banner of the Great Harlot or MYSTERY BABYLON. All false religions will become ONE WORLD RELIGION (Just as there will be a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT and a ONE WORLD ECONOMY).

This APOSTASY will prepare the way for the Antichrist to come on the scene. This APOSTASY is happening NOW.
