Resurrection of Jesus

THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS IS VERY IMPORTANT

Resurrection

From the day that Jesus died and was buried the Jews of His time denied the RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ and tried their best to discredit the RESURRECTION after they were told that Jesus Christ had risen and the UNBELIEVERS right up to today are still trying their best to deny the RESURRECTION but without success, Why? Because the Scriptures, God’s perfect Word tells us that Jesus rose from the dead. NOTHING what a human being says can trump what GOD SAYS. It is AS SIMPLE as that.

Let us look at the verse in the Scriptures that say that Jesus ROSE AGAIN from the dead and is ALIVE forever more.

Luke 24:6-7 “He is not here, but He HAS RISEN. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day RISE AGAIN.”

Matthew 28:5-7 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. “He is not here, for He HAS RISEN, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. “Go quickly and tell His disciples that He HAS RISEN from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”

Matthew 16:21 “From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be RAISED UP on the third day.”

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and ROSE AGAIN, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.”

Romans 8:1 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who RAISED Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the RESURRECTION and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

1 Corinthians 6:14 “Now God has not only RAISED the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.”

1 Corinthians 15:4 “and that He was buried, and that He was RAISED on the third day ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES,”

Romans 6:4 “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”

Philippians 3:10″that I may know Him and the power of His RESURRECTION and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;”

Acts 4:33 “And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the RESURRECTION of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all.”

Acts 3:15 “but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God RAISED from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.”

Romans 8:34 “who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was RAISED, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”

Mark 9:9 “who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was RAISED, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”

2 Corinthians 5:15 “and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and ROSE AGAIN on their behalf.”

Matthew 17:9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has RISEN from the dead.”

Mark 16:6 And he *said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He HAS RISEN; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.”

Mark 16:9 “Now after He HAD RISEN early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons.”

Mark 16:14 “Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He HAD RISEN.”

Luke 24:34 “saying, “The Lord HAS REALLY RISEN and has appeared to Simon.”

2 Timothy 2:8 “Remember Jesus Christ, RISEN from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel,”

Galatians 1:1 “Paul, an apostle (not sent from men nor through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who RAISED Him from the dead),

Here are the VERY WORDS of Jesus : Luke 24:44-46 Now He said to them, “These are MY WORDS which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the SCRIPTURES and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and RISE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD ON THE THIRD DAY,”. The SCRIPTURES were of course the Old Testament scrolls as the New Testament Books hadn’t been written as yet.

The Resurrection of Jesus

PAUL TEACHES WHAT HE HAD RECEIVED

1 Corinthians 15:3 “For I DELIVERED to you as of first importance what I also RECEIVED,”

What did he deliver and receive? The Gospel.

Whom did he receive the Gospel from? Jesus

Galatians 1:11-12 “For I would have you know, brethren, that the GOSPEL which was PREACHED by me is NOT according to man. For I NEITHER received it from man, NOR was I taught it, but I RECEIVED IT THROUGH A REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.”

Paul spent three years in Arabia during which time he preached in Damascus but also spent lots of quiet times with Jesus during which Jesus revealed the Truth and Mysteries, including the Gospel.

Revelation of Gospel to Paul

PAUL TEACHES HIS DEATH - BURIAL - RESURRECTION

Paul clearly teaches the DEATH – BURIAL – RESURRECTION of Jesus according to what he had received from Jesus, namely, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ DIED for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He WAS BURIED, and that He WAS RAISED on the third day ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES,”

PAUL HIMSELF CONFIRMS THE RESURRECTION

Paul reminds them that the RISEN  Lord Jesus appeared to many after His RESURRECTION, including himself.

1 Corinthians 15:5-8 “and that He APPEARED to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He APPEARED to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He APPEARED to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He APPEARED to me also.”

Now if the RESURRECTION did not take place then Paul is telling a big lie and he would be guilty of PREACHING A FALSE GOSPEL . He would be accursed by his own words in Galatians 1:9 “As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is PREACHING to you a GOSPEL CONTRARY to what you RECEIVED, he is to be ACCURSED!

Because Paul preaches to the Church through his writings that the RESURRECTION did happen ALL we have to do is BELIEVE because God’s WORD is TRUTH.

Jesus is the WORD (John 1:1) – Jesus is the TRUTH (John 14:6) – Jesus REVEALED the RESURRECTION to Paul – thus the RESURRECTION is TRUE – all we have to do is BELIEVE THE WORD WHO IS THE TRUTH.

Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life

Christians don’t have a reason to argue with unbelievers about the RESURRECTION.

Jesus Himself says in John 11:25 Jesus said to her, I AM the RESURRECTION and the LIFE; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,”

Jesus died a physical death on the Cross to pay the penalty for SIN giving eternal Spiritual life to all that BELIEVE in Him and He was physically BURIED and physically ROSE AGAIN having won VICTORY over death,  sharing that VICTORY over death with all that BELIEVE in Him when we are RESURRECTED or CHANGED (from a physical body to an eternal body) at the glorious event of the BLESSED HOPE the RAPTURE. 1Thessalonians 4:13-18

Just tell them the TRUTH, that is the WORD OF GOD, and PRAY for them.

Jesus NEVER argued with the religious Jews, but always answered their questions with WISDOM of the SCRIPTURES and then let them ponder His words.

NEVER ADD NOR TAKE AWAY FROM GOD’S WORD.

Deuteronomy 4:2 “You SHALL NOT ADD to the word which I am commanding you, NOR TAKE AWAY from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”

Proverbs 30:6 “Do NOT ADD to His words or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.”

Revelation 22:18-19 “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone ADDS to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone TAKES AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”

Do not add to God's Word

WITHOUT THE RESURRECTION OUR FAITH IS IN VAIN

Paul asks the people of Corinth in 1 Corinthians 15:12 “Now if Christ is preached, that He HAS BEEN RAISED from the dead, how do some among you SAY that there is NO RESURRECTION of the dead?”

Most likely the Sadducees, a sect in the time of Jesus, who didn’t believe in the RESURRECTION, had been busy denying the RESURRECTION and some of the followers of Jesus who most likely had been influenced by the teachings of the Sadducees and had heard Paul and the Apostles preach about the RESURRECTION of Jesus were therefore denying that it had occurred.

Paul then goes on stressing a very important part of the Christian faith.

1 Corinthians 15:13-14 “But if there is no RESURRECTION of the dead, not even Christ has been RAISED; and if Christ has not been RAISED, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.”

Resurrection

WITHOUT THE RESURRECTION WE ARE FALSE WITNESSES OF GOD

1 Corinthians 15:15 “Moreover we are even found to be FALSE WITNESSES OF GOD, because we testified against God that He RAISED Christ, whom He did not RAISE, if in fact the dead are not RAISED.”

Now read this carefully what we are going to write here!!!

In the above verse Paul is saying that we would be found to be FALSE WITNESSES of God if God had said that there was NO RESURRECTION while we are saying that God RAISED Jesus from the dead.

We are NOT FALSE WITNESSES OF GOD when we are saying that God RAISED Jesus from the dead, because all the many verses of God’s Word are CONFIRMING that there is a RESURRECTION because these verses all say that God RAISED Jesus from the dead.

Resurrection

GOD’S WORD IS TRUTH.

JESUS IS THE WORD (JOHN 1:1)

THE WORD IS GOD (JOHN 1:1) THUS JESUS IS GOD AND JESUS IS MAN

JESUS IS THE TRUTH (JOHN 14:6) THUS THE WORD IS TRUTH

THE WORDS OF JESUS SAY THAT THE RESURRECTION IS TRUE SO ALL WE CHRISTIANS HAVE TO DO IS BELIEVE

IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT - BELIEVE

Hold on as there is more to the RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ our LORD  and SAVIOUR.

Let us quickly look at 1 Corinthians 15:55 “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?”

Up to the Cross Death had its victory as all mankind had to die as penalty of sin.

1 Corinthians 15:56 goes on to say “The STING of death is SIN, and the POWER of SIN is the LAW;”

The power of sin is the Law. This does not mean that the Law is sin, no, because sin was before the Law. It means that the Law shows the power of sin as ALL men have sinned.

The LAW of God is the POWER  of SIN because it exposes our sinful nature. If ANY MAN could go through life without breaking even the smallest part of the LAW he would have lived forever. But NO MAN has been able to do so EXCEPT one MAN, the LORD JESUS CHRIST, the SON OF MAN.

When the ETERNAL WORD came into the world and took on a physical body in the LIKENESS of SINFUL flesh and was named JESUS, it means that He took on a human body that suffered all the consequences of sin like, aging, hunger, thirst, tiredness, pain, emotions like crying, laughing, joy and sadness, righteous anger, etc. However SPIRITUALLY Jesus was alive and in communion with the Father and the Holy Spirit as He was CONCEIVED by the OVERSHADOWING POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT and not by the SINFUL seed of Joseph.

Jesus NEVER had sin within Him, so He could NEVER SIN nor could He EVER be TEMPTED by SIN. He WON the victory over the POWER of SIN, namely the LAW. Jesus NEVER BROKE THE LAW thus NEVER SINNED. He was the PERFECT LAMB OF God, to pay for the PENALTY of SIN and be stung by the STING of DEATH, when He died for the SINS of the world.

After He was BURIED and ROSE AGAIN He won the victory over SIN AND DEATH.

1 Corinthians 15:55 “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?”

Jesus has won the Victory

Romans 7:7-8 “What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “YOU SHALL NOT COVET. But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.”

The moment we are born in the flesh we are already spiritually dead because of the inherited consequence of Adam’s disobedience. As our physical condition is concerned, the moment we reach the age of accountability and we break only the minutes part of God’s Law written in the Old Testament, we are stung by Death through that sin. Because Scriptures tells us that ALL men have sinned then ALL men will be stung by Death.

Read this very carefully!

GOD FORE-ORDAINED AN AMAZING PLAN OF SALVATION IN HIS SON JESUS CHRIST BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS OF THIS WORLD WERE LAID.

Romans 8:1-2 “Therefore there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are IN CHRIST JESUS. For the LAW of the SPIRIT of LIFE in CHRIST JESUS has set you FREE from the law of SIN and of DEATH.”

JESUS CONQUERS SIN AND DEATH

Lamb of God

Because Jesus was/is SINLESS He was the PERFECTLAMB OF GOD” to pay the penalty for the sins of those that trust in Him as Lord and Saviour according to the Gospel which is the LAW OF THE SPIRIT.

JESUS had to be BORN in this world as it is WRITTEN in the Scriptures.

Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin WILL BE WITH CHILD AND BEAR A SON, and she will call His name Immanuel.”

Jesus had to be born to be the PERFECT SACRIFICE and DIE for SIN, the STING of DEATH, to pay the PENALTY of those WHOEVER believe in HIM as LORD and SAVIOUR.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

THAT IS WHY JESUS HAD TO BE BORN

Jesus had to be born

JESUS had to DIE as it is WRITTEN in the Scriptures.

Isaiah 52:12 “Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because HE POURED OUT HIMSELF TO DEATH,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
And interceded for the transgressors.”

Jesus had to DIE because He was SINLESS and therefor the PERFECT ULTIMATE SACRIFICE that God demanded to atone for SIN giving BELIEVERS victory over the SPIRITUAL DEATH mankind inherited through the DISOBEDIENT SINFUL ACT  of Adam in the Garden of Eden and VICTORY of the LAW OF SIN through the LAW OF THE SPIRIT which is the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.

Please read the above paragraph carefully!

It DOESN’T say ALL MEN have been forgiven! Not at all. ONLY the BELIEVERS of the GOSPEL have their sins ATONED for.

John 3:16 ““For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

THAT IS WHY JESUS HAD TO DIE ON THE CROSS

Cruxifiction

JESUS had to be BURIED as it is WRITTEN in the Scriptures.

Isaiah 53:9 “His GRAVE was assigned with wicked men,
Yet He was WITH A RICH MAN IN HIS DEATH,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.”

To fulfill the above verse in Isaiah 53, although he was crucified between two criminals and His accusers had assigned Him a grave with these wicked men, His body was taken down by the rich man Joseph of Arimathea and who laid Him in his own new tomb.

Jesus had to be BURIED in order that He could RISE AGAIN.

THAT IS WHY JESUS HAD TO BE BURIED

Tomb closed

JESUS had to RISE again as it was WRITTEN  in the Scriptures.

Psalm 16:10 “For You will NOT ABANDON  my soul to Sheol;
NOR WILL YOU ALLOW Your Holy One to UNDERGO DECAY.

The above verse in Psalm 16 has to be fulfilled, meaning that the Soul and Spirit of Jesus would NOT be abandoned to Sheol and His body would NOT undergo decay in the grave, but that He would RISE UP again on the third day.

Through His DEATH on the Cross Jesus won the victory over SIN and CRUSHED the head of Satan. Genesis 3:15.

The RESURRECTION would give Jesus the victory over DEATH.

THAT IS WHY JESUS HAD TO RISE AGAIN

Tomb open

DID JESUS CHOOSE TO DIE ON THE CROSS?

Many theories have been written for and against this question but after reading many of the and going back to the Scriptures we conclude the following on this question.

John 3:35 “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.”

John 17:2 “even as You gave Him AUTHORITY over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.”

After His Resurrection Jesus confirmed this in Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ALL AUTHORITY has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

This AUTHORITY also would mean that Jesus had the AUTHORITY to make choices including going to the Cross.

Having said this let us now look at other Scriptures.

In John 14 Jesus is talking to His disciples about Him leaving them to go to the Father. This of course could only happen after He died and rose again, so that He (by asking His Father) could send the Holy Spirit to dwell in their hearts for ever. He also stressed that He has told them these things before they happen so that, when these things do happen , they may believe.

At the end of the chapter Jesus makes a very important statement!

John 14:31 “but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I DO EXACTLY AS THE FATHER COMMANDED ME. Get up, let us go from here.”

Here is the CRUX of this question above.

JESUS COULD ONLY MAKE ONE CHOICE - WHY?

Yes, because He has all AUTHORITY Jesus COULD CHOOSE but the ONLY choice He COULD MAKE was to die on the Cross.in OBEDIENCE  to the FATHER’S WILL.

However, because NO SIN was in Him and Jesus COULD NOT SIN, He could therefore ONLY exercise that choice, by doing the will of the Father, and thus He would not be DISOBEDIENT to the Father’s COMMAND,  as we all know that DISOBEDIENCE is SIN.

JESUS COULD NOT - WOULD NOT - CAN NOT - WILL NOT SIN

Jesus' Choice
