JESUS
ALL ABOUT JESUS
The name and Person of Jesus have for many centuries been revered and treasured by those who know and who love Him, the Son of God, the Son of Man, the Messiah, the Saviour, God Himself. The same name and Person have also been despised and hated by the unbelievers of this world, who have used His name as a swear word and spoken blasphemous things about Him. Little do they know that every word that comes off their lips is recorded, to be held against them at the Great White Throne Judgment at the end of the 1000 year millennium reign of Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords. (See our Topic page “The Judgements”). Ever since Jesus was born in Bethlehem , many have asked the question “Who is Jesus?” and billions of people still don’t know who Jesus is!
Let us look at the BIG picture.
Two important names belong ONLY to Jesus.
Son of God and Son of Man.
Please note the emphasis that we have placed on the letter S of the two words SON.
We know that we, the born again believers are the ADOPTED sons of God the moment we are born again. That is sons with a small s. The reason why Jesus has the name Son of God is that the WORD is the SON of God. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was GOD.”
Looking at the Triune God graphic further down the page it shows that the Son of God is the second Person of the Trinity.
John 1:14 And the WORD BECAME FLESH, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
This the SON of GOD taking on human form when Jesus the SON OF MAN was born. The SON OF GOD, the WORD, at the appointed time, took on the BODY that was prepared for Him by the Father and became the SON OF MAN.
Hebrews 10:5 “Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED,
BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME;”
We can look at this verse in two ways.
The Father prepared a body for the SON OF GOD, HIS SON, to take on human form so He can experience all the temptations and trials all men experience (yet without sin).
The Father prepared a body for the SON OF GOD, HIS SON, that the SON OF GOD, HIS SON, the WORD, in obedience to the Father’s will, would freely offer up as the PERFECT SACRIFICE, to die for the sins of those that will believe in Him.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
The very moment the SON OF GOD, the WORD, at His birth to the Virgin Mary, took on this body that was prepared for Him , He also became the SON OF MAN and the PERFECT Sacrifice the Father required as an Atonement (to pay the penalty) for the sins of mankind. His death was sufficient to pay the penalty for every person born since Adam. However, this DOES NOT mean that this was a blanket forgiveness to all sinners!
Not at all! The forgiveness would only be extended to those sinners that repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and in His amazing gift of Grace, that He was born of a Virgin, died on the Cross, was buried and rose again, giving those that repent and believe FORGIVENESS, VICTORY OVER SIN, VICTORY OVER DEATH and ETERNAL LIFE.
JESUS IS GOD
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.”
John 20:28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and MY GOD!” Jesus does NOT correct Thomas.
Titus 2:13 “looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great GOD and SAVIOUR, CHRIST JESUS,” Here Paul calls Jesus OUR GREAT GOD AND SAVIOUR.
Isaiah 43:11 “I, even I, am the LORD, And there is NO SAVIOUR besides Me.” From this we also learn that God calls Himself the ONLY SAVIOUR.
While in Titus 2:13 Paul calls Jesus OUR GREAT GOD and SAVIOUR we can conclude from Isaiah 43:11 and Titus 2:13, that Jesus is God.
Jude 1:25 “to the ONLY GOD OUR SAVIOUR, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.”
Revelation 1:8 “I am the ALPHA and the OMEGA,” says the LORD GOD, “who is and who was and who is to come, THE ALMIGHTY.”
Revelation 2:8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The FIRST and the LAST, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:
Here we can read that Jesus is identified as the FIRST letter and LAST letter of the Greek alphabet as well as referring to Him as the LORD GOD and also as the FIRST and the LAST Who was DEAD and has come to LIFE again referring to JESUS CHRIST.
JESUS IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS
John 1:3 “ALL THINGS came into being THROUGH HIM, and APART FROM HIM NOTHING CAME INTO BEING that has come into being..”
Colossians 1:16 “For BY HIM all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—ALL THINGS HAVE BEEN CREATED THROUGH HIM and FOR HIM.”
Romans 11:36 “For FROM HIM and THROUGH HIM and TO HIM are ALL THINGS. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”
The Trinity in action at the creation.
God the Father DETERMINED the creation, WILLED His Son the Word to SPEAK it into being and the Holy Spirit BROUGHT LIFE into the creation and SUSTAINS the life and CONTINUES TO SUSTAIN the life.
JESUS IS THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD
Colossians 1:15 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”
What does Paul mean when he says “He is the image of the invisible God’?
Let us quickly turn to John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
From this we learn that the Word is God. We also know that the Word came into the world at the Virgin Birth where He took on the body that was prepared for Him, Hebrews 10:5 “Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED,
BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME;”
That was the body of Jesus. This is when the Son of God (the Word) also became the Son of Man (Jesus Christ). Looking at the figure below we that the Trinity is GOD in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All three are EQUAL GOD in all divine attributes.
The Son (the Word) is equal God and when He came into the world and took on the body of Jesus, He was still equal God and thus Paul called Him “the image of the invisible God”, as the Father is Spirit. The invisible God became visible, audible, approachable, knowable, and available. Thus we know that all God is, Jesus Christ is and we can see the Father in Him.
NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES
Philippians 2:9-11 “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME, so that at THE NAME of JESUS EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that JESUS Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
This is a WARNING to ALL that use the name of JESUS in vain as a swear word.
JESUS is GOD.
JESUS is the NAME of GOD.
Here s GOD’s WARNING.
Exodus 20:7 “You shall NOT take the name of the LORD your God IN VAIN, for the LORD will NOT leave him UNPUNISHED who takes His name IN VAIN.
You can ignore His WARNING and continue using His Name in vain OR you can heed the WARNING and refrain from using His Name in vain and when you do slip up and use His Name in vain, confess, repent that SIN and try hard NOT to use His Name in vain.
JESUS IS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Revelation 19:16 “And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
1 Timothy 6:14-15 “that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the KING of kings and LORD of lords”
Revelation 17:14 “These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is LORD of lords and KING of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.”,
ALL kings that ever have walked on the earth were established as kings by God, NO OTHER WAY.
Also, in His perfect wisdom God removed them as kings as He works out His amazing plan of SALVATION. Nothing ad nobody can thwart Him in doing so.
Daniel 2:20-21 Daniel said, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. “It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He REMOVES kings and ESTABLISHES kings;”
WHEN JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS HE WON THE VICTORY OVER SIN.
WHEN JESUS ROSE AGAIN FROM THE GRAVE HE WON THE VICTORY OVER DEATH
HE WON THE VICTOR'S CROWN
THE ONLY NAME BY WHICH WE MUST BE SAVED
Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven that has been given among men BY WHICH WE MUST BE SAVED.”
JESUS WILL DWELL IN YOUR HEART
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”
What a wonderful promise from Jesus our God. This is an amazing example of the Holy Trinity at work.
The moment a person opens his/her heart to Jesus, confess his/her sins, repents and believes/trust in Him as Lord and Saviour, then the Holy Spirit enters his/her heart, that person is BORN AGAIN of the Spirit. He will NEVER leave him/her. That’s the moment the Father and the Lord Jesus ALSO take their abode in that person’s HEART as They are ONE with the Holy Spirit.
1 John 4:15 “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, GOD ABIDES IN HIM, and he in God.”
Colossians 1:27 “to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory.”
1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS IN YOU, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?”
THE ONLY NAME IN WHICH WE THANK THE FATHER FOR EVERYTHING
Ephesians 5:20 “always GIVING THANKS for all things IN THE NAME of our Lord JESUS Christ to God, even the Father;”
ALL THAT CHRISTIANS DO THEY MUST DO IT IN THE NAME OF JESUS
Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do in word or deed, DO ALL IN THE NAME of the Lord JESUS, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
A CHRISTIAN'S LIFE MUST GLORIFY THE NAME OF JESUS
2 Thessalonians 1:12 “so that the NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord JESUS Christ.”
IT IS GOD THE FATHER'S COMMANDMENT THAT WE BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF JESUS
1 John 3:23 “This is His commandment, that we believe in the NAME OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST, and love one another, just as He commanded us.”
CHRISTIANS ARE WASHED, SANCTIFIED AND JUSTIFIED IN THE NAME OF JESUS
1 Corinthians 6:11 “Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and in the Spirit of our God.”
WE MUST BE BAPTISED IN THE NAME OF JESUS
Acts 2:38 “Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE WILL BOW
Philippians 2:9-11 “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Let us now quickly at how AGAIN we can see from this that JESUS IS GOD. We already know that Jesus is the SAVIOUR.
1 John 4:14 “We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the SAVIOUR of the world.”
Now let us look at Isaiah (before Jesus was born) where we read that God says He is ONLY GOD and SAVIOUR and that every knee shall bow and tongue confess allegiance (acknowledge Him as Lord).
Isaiah 45:21-23 ……….Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me. “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am GOD, and THERE IS NO OTHER. “I have sworn by Myself,
The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That TO ME EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS ALLEGIANCE“
God of the Old Testament is GOD and SAVIOUR.
He also says there is NONE EXCEPT ME.
The New Testament tells us that Jesus is GOD and SAVIOUR.
What does that tell us? That God the Father and Jesus are ONE just as Jesus said.
This is the Holy Trinity. One God in three persons FATHER – SON -HOLY SPIRIT.
Isn’t God’s Word great? The More you dig the more treasures you will find.
THE ENEMIES TRY TO PREVENT US TO SPEAK OR TEACH IN THE NAME OF JESUS
Acts 4:18 “And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all IN THE NAME OF JESUS.”
JESUS WILL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS
Matthew 1:21 “She will bear a Son; and you shall CALL HIS NAME JESUS, for He WILL SAVE His people FROM THEIR SINS.”
Acts 10:43 “Of Him all the prophets bear witness that THROUGH HIS NAME everyone who BELIEVES in Him receives FORGIVENESS OF SINS.”
JESUS IS THE MESSIAH
Matthew 1:1 “The record of the genealogy of JESUS THE MESSIAH, the son of David, the son of Abraham:”
Matthew 1:16 “Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom JESUS was born, who is called THE MESSIAH.”
JESUS HOLDS ALL THINGS TOGETHER
Colossians 1:17 “He is before all things, and IN HIM all things HOLD TOGETHER.”

JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

1 John 2:7-9 “On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true LIGHT is already shining. The one who says he is in the LIGHT and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. The one who loves his brother abides in the LIGHT and there is no cause for stumbling in him.”
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY
John14:6 “Jesus *said to him, “I AM THE WAY, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.“
There are still so many people going to church thinking they will go to Heaven because they belong to a certain church or because they think they are good people and do good things in the community etc. They are such a fools! If they DON’T have Jesus in their hearts they are on their way to the eternal Lake of Fire.
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY THAT ENABLES US TO GO TO THE FATHER IN HEAVE AND THAT IS JESUS, OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR,
Name above all names.
You MUST confess your sins to God, belief that He sent His Son Jesus into this world, born of a Virgin, died on the Cross for our sins, was buried and rose again to give us victory over death and ascended into Heaven where He is seated at the right side of the Father to be our Mediator while we are still on the earth in our sinful bodies.
John 14:6 “Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; NO ONE comes to the Father BUT THROUGH ME.“
JESUS IS THE TRUTH
John14:6 “Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and THE TRUTH, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.“
John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; Your WORD is TRUTH.” Jesus is the WORD – is the TRUTH.
JESUS IS THE LIFE
John 1:4 “In Him was LIFE, and the LIFE was the Light of men.”
John 6:33 “For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives LIFE to the world.”
John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of LIFE; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”
John 6:48 “I am the bread of LIFE.”
John 6:51 “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the LIFE of the world is My flesh.”
John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of LIFE.”
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the LIFE; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,

NO ONE CAN GO TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH HIM

JESUS DIED ONLY FOR HIS OWN
“Jesus died only for His own” has always been brushed off as a doctrine of John Calvin. We don’t see it that way. We believe this is what God’s Word teaches us and not John Calvin. John Calvin may teach what God’s Word teaches, but it is not teaching trumped up by himself.
