ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION. Before we go deeper into this important subject we must first of all STRESS that we ARE NOT and WILL NOT go back in time and touch on the “TYPE OF THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION” that was set up in the old Temple when Antiochus Epiphanes the king of Syria, captured Jerusalem in 167 BC and desecrated the Temple by offering the sacrifice of a pig on an altar to Zeus. What we will discuss here is the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION that will be set up in the rebuilt Temple during Tribulation period.

Let us look at the Scriptures and read what they say about it.

Matthew 24:15 “Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),”

Daniel 12:11 ““From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION is set up, there will be 1,290 days.”

Revelation 13:14-15 “And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the wound of the sword and has come to life. And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed.”

Over the years many false explanations have been given as to what the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION might be and what it may look like. Unfortunately most of all the explanations are wrong. Why? Because the Scriptures DON’T give us any details that might describe what the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION might look like but we MAY KNOW what it will be.

What the Scriptures do tell us is this.

Before we go into this let us first state that the Abomination of Desolation will stand in the REBUILT TEMPLE which the “LITTLE HORN” aka “MAN OF LAWLESSNESS” aka “THE BEAST” aka “THE ANTICHRIST” will allow the Jews to build after the SEVEN YEAR TREATY has been signed by many.

The Temple MUST be rebuild again as the Abomination of Desolation will be set up in the Temple.

 1.  The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION will be set up just after the first 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation period when the Man of Lawlessness breaks the 7 year Treaty  with many.

2. The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION will be set up AFTER the ten kings (horns) and the little horn (the Man of Lawlessness) Daniel 7:24 will destroy the World Wide False Church, thus doing away with all religion and only permitting the worship of the beast and his image, the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION that will be set up in the Temple by the False Prophet.

Revelation 17:16 “And the ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire.”

3. The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION that Antiochus Epiphanes set up in Daniel 11:31 is NOT the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION set up in the third Temple, as about 3 1/2 years after the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION is set up in the Tribulation period, Jesus Christ will arrive at His Second Coming. Well He didn’t do that 3 1/2 years after Antiochus Epiphanes set up his ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION. That is all we will say about this event by Antiochus Epiphanes.

4. The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION will be placed in the third Temple AFTER the Man of Lawlessness (the LITTLE HORN that emerges from among the ten kings) exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, and takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. It is at this stage, we believe, the beast in Revelation 17:8 that comes out of the abyss, is no other than Satan himself, who then ENTERS the Man of Lawlessness, who then becomes the ANTICHRIST. He did the same with Judas of Iscariot, entering him and Judas became the BETRAYER. When Judas hung himself Satan would have come out of him to carry on his evil work. Judas was called Son of Perdition, meaning he was DESTINED for destruction. 

After the Man of Lawlessness is possessed by Satan and takes his seat in the Temple after exalting himself above all other gods and portraying himself as God, 2 Thessalonians 2:4, the False Prophet entices the people (unbelievers) of the world to make an image TO the beast.

Revelation 13:14 “And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image TO the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life.”

Revelation 13:15 “And it was given to him to GIVE BREATH TO the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast WOULD EVEN SPEAK and cause as many as DO NOT WORSHIP the image of the beast to be killed.”

Verse 15 above clears up the WRONG interpretation that the Antichrist will be mortally wounded and resurrected again. The verse 15 above clearly states the False Prophet gives breath to the IMAGE not to the ANTICHRIST and tells the people of the world to WORSHIP the IMAGE.

Now the big questions is (and the Scriptures DON’T give us the answer), is the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION the by Satan possessed Man of Lawlessness, aka ANTICHRIST or is the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION the IMAGE of the ANTICHRIST set up by the False Prophet.

It is THERE where we have to leave it, as the Scriptures DON’T tell us anymore.
