SOME WILL NEVER DIE

How did death come into this world?
The Scriptures tell us clearly in Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and DEATH THROUGH SIN, and so DEATH SPREAD TO ALL MEN, because all sinned—”
Sin came into this world because of the disobedience of Adam in the garden of Eden. Because Adam disobeyed God’s commandment regarding the tree of Good and Evil, and took the fruit from that tree from Eve and ate of it.
That very moment Adam and Eve died spiritually, their communion with God was cut off and their spirit, instead of walking after God, started walking after their “flesh”, instead of after God’s will, they walked after their own will. That moment they realised they were naked. They lost their covering of the glory of God.
Physical death would follow in due course.
Hebrews 9:27 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,”
So from these two verses we can clearly conclude that God’s Word tells us that ALL MEN must die.
However God’s Word also tells us that their are exceptions!
In the Old Testament we read that there were two people who went to heaven without dying.
The first one was Enoch.
Genesis 5:23-24 “So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God; and HE WAS NOT, FOR GOD TOOK HIM.”
The second one was Elijah.
2 Kings 2:11 As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And ELIJAH WENT UP BY A WHIRLWIND TO heaven.
That are the people in the Old Testament of whom we know that they never died physically.
In the New Testament we find a very large group of people who will NEVER know physical death.
They came into the world spiritually dead to God, but by the wonderful GRACE of God are BORN AGAIN by confessing that they are sinners and belief and trust in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Their spiritual communion with God was restored and they received the Holy Spirit Who has sealed them into the Body of Christ and now dwells within them forever. Because the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are ONE GOD, the Holy TRINITY, the Father and the Son are dwelling within the Born Again believers as well. That is why Jesus says in John 14:23 – Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
If these Born Again believers are alive at the moment of the RAPTURE (which is imminent) they will will be transformed from a physical body to a eternal spiritual body, in a twinkling of an eye, that is faster than a split second.
1 Corinthians 15:51-53 “Behold, I tell you a mystery; WE WILL NOT ALL SLEEP, but WE WILL ALL BE CHANGED, in a moment, in the TWINKLING OF AN EYE, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and WE WILL BE CHANGED. For this PERISHABLE must put on the IMPERISHABLE, and this MORTAL must put on IMMORTALITY.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16 “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST”.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 “Then we who ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN will be CAUGHT UP together with them IN THE CLOUDS to meet the Lord in the air, and so WE SHALL ALWAYS BE WITH THE LORD”.
Looking at these verses above we can safely conclude:
First Paul says that we will NOT all die (sleep). The body of the dead believer “sleeps” in the ground and decays to dust, but the soul and spirit are with the Lord Jesus in Paradise (in the Third Heaven, [read the Topic page “Three Heavens”])
Next he says we will ALL (all born again believers alive at the moment of the Rapture) be changed. Their earthly perishable and mortal bodies will be changed into heavenly imperishable and immortal bodies.
Before we who are alive are changed, all the bodies of the believers who have died since the Church began at Pentecost, will be resurrected and reunited with their souls and spirits which the Lord will bring with Him when He descends from heaven at the Rapture.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so GOD WILL BRING HIM THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP IN JESUS.”
The main point of the paragraphs above is that a large number of people (born again believers) WILL NEVER DIE.
