Scriptures fulfill history

ALL SCRIPTURE IS INSPIRED BY GOD - 2 Timothy 3:16

We always check out the Statement of Faith on a Christian website. By reading it we can soon establish some handy truths. From the Statement of Faith we can know how grounded they are in the solid doctrines of the Scriptures as inspired by God. From the writings on the website we can then discern whether or not the editors of the website are influenced by false teachings, i.e. doctrines of men instead of doctrines of God.

Paul warns us in Romans16:17-18 “Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their SMOOTH AND FLATTERING SPEECH they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”

Again in 2 Timothy4:3-4 Paul writes “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”

Does this sound familiar with the times we live in right now?

Remember when king Hezekiah sent his couriers throughout the land, from city to city to warn the people to return to the Lord! But what did the people do?

2 Chronicles 30:10 So the couriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, and as far as Zebulun, BUT THEY LAUGHED THEM TO SCORN, AND MOCKED THEM.

That’s what they do today as well! Nothing has changed.

Romans 3:10 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;

Without the new birth men CAN NOT understand the Gospel because men is spiritually DEAD, as a result of Adam’s sin and the sinful nature we inherited. Hence they have no desire to seek after God, they don’t want to know about HIM. Yes many want to know about FALSE gods (demons)’

The spirit of this age says, “Give us something something that makes us feel good — tickling our itching ears — give us what we want to hear and not what we need to hear.” Many false teachers/preachers are busy obliging.

Our DUTY is to tell people the things they NEED TO KNOW, whether they want it or not.

Paul solemnly charges us in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus TO PREACH THE WORD; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 2 Timothy 4:1-2

The reason Paul charges us to preach the Word? It is the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD.

In Matthew 4:4 Jesus says  “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’” It is not just the words that are written in the New Testament that are relevant for the Christians but ALL WORDS that are in the whole Bible, Old and New Testaments. We are clearly told by Jesus, the WORD HIMSELF, that the words of the Scriptures MAKE HISTORY. Lets look at what He says to His disciples when He came in the midst of them, when the two disciples who traveled to a village called Emmaus about 7 miles from Jerusalem, were telling them how Jesus had appeared to them along the road.

Now He said to them, “These are My WORDS which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms MUST BE FULFILLED.”

Read this carefully. Jesus is saying here that history WILL HAPPEN because it was already foretold by the WORD OF GOD.

Here is a real tasty CRUMB of the beautiful  POWER of God’s Word. In eternity past, when the Holy Trinity was in perfect harmony, God predetermind a time when His Redeemer, the Messiah would be born on this Earth. Please note this: This predetermind time of His birth would be fullfilled right on the precised second of time, not any ealier, not any later.

Some prophecies of the birth of Jesus are:

Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.”

Micah 5:2 “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah,
From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.”

Isaiah 9:6 “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

Matthew 1:21-22 “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Now all this took place TO FULFILL what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:”

Again, let us look at the Word of God in Galatians 4:4-5  where Paul says that the predetermined Word of the prophecy of the birth of Jesus would BE FULFILLED AT THE APPOINTED TIME.

Galatians 4:4-5 “But when the FULLNESS OF THE TIME came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”

Isaiah 55:11 “So will MY WORD be which goes forth from My mouth; It will NOT RETURN TO ME EMPTY,
Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Psalm 34:20 He keeps all his bones, Not one of them is broken. FULLFILLED in John 19:33 “but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs” and John 19:36 “For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, “NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN.”

Psalm 22:18 “They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.”  FULFILLED in John 19:24 “So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, to decide whose it shall be”; THIS WAS TO FULFILL THE SCRIPTURE: “THEY DIVIDED MY OUTER GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND FOR MY CLOTHING THEY CAST LOTS.”

Matthew 5:18 “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the SMALLEST LETTER or stroke shall pass from the Law until ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED.”
ALL this DOES NOT mean that because these things happened history proves that the Scriptures are true. DEFINITELY NOT.
History is TRUE because it HAD TO HAPPEN, because Scriptures SAID THESE THINGS WOULD HAPPEN. God’s WORD would not come back empty, without fulfilling the purpose IT was send out to do. Isaiah 55:11.
